The position of the boundary for 300 mm of rainfall per
year (300 mm isohyet) was extracted for all years 1931 to 2004.
The latitudal variation range of the 300 mm isohyet is 400 km.
For the year 1996 the isohyet could be derived both from interpolation of
station data and from satellite supported rainfall estimates. The results obtained
with the two different methods are
illustrated in the image.
