The trend of the Sahelian rainfall was calculated using least square statistics for the period 1982-2004. The increase in rainfall has been large in the central parts. Rainfall data for the area north of 20 degrees N is lacking for the years 1997-2000. As this represent a rainy preiods the recovery over this part will seem artificially smaller.
