The general greening trend observed in this study agrees
well with other studies suggesting a drought recovery in
the Sahel after 1985. This study points at increased rainfall
as the main cause of the Sahel greening, and that the greening
probably has been curbed by other factors in a larger part
of the Sahel. The large greening up found by analysing the trend of
NDVI and NPP (large map) only partly coincide with areas also showing
increases in RUE (small figure).
