The differences in local (neighboring)
vegetation dynamics was calculated as the change in NPP
between a pixel and its 8 neighbors 1982-2004.
The kernel analysis using 3x3 cells typically forces a "salt and pepper"
pattern. The resulting map can be used for identifying areas with
homogenous and heterogenous vegeation dynamics over the last 23 years.
The small figure shows the local difference for 2004, and the map shows
the trend in local difference 1982-2004.
