The trend in Rain Use Efficiency (RUE) for each pixel over the period 1982-2004 was calculated using least square statistics, eliminating pixels with less than 20 observations. The area with increased RUE in Mauritania, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger is around 0.6 million km2.
