MODIS (Moderate Resolution Image Spectrometre) is a sensor on the TERRA satellite. It registers 36 bands of radiation (light and temperature) in 250 - 1000 m resolution. From these 36 bands many properties of the Earth's surface and atmoshere can be extracted. The map shows a natural color MODIS image from July 2005 (wet season).
