MODIS NDVI is calculated in the same way as before, namely the ratio between
reflectance in the near infrared (NIR)
and visible (VIS) regions:
NDVI = (NIR-VIS)/(NIR+VIS)
Healthy vegetation strongly reflects NIR radiation,
and absorbs VIS for driving photosynthesis.
